We've got to elect a good President.
Anna was never all that into politics growing up. It
never seemed like it made much difference who was in charge because there were
so many checks and balances between the different arms of goverment.
Sadly, the last 7 years have shown us all how vitally important it is that we
choose a good president, for our own safety against war, our reputation in the world,
our personal liberty and safety as citizens, and the health of the planet we all share.
During the primary season, Anna was a supporter of all of the Democratic or Green party candidates. They have all stated clear goals for environmental reform and other current problems. You can check the different candidates' positions on environmental issues here.
However, Anna particularly supports the candidacy of Barack Obama (and is
thrilled that he has clinched the nomination). Her primary
reason for this is his positions on many issues (click
here for Barack's platform). But
Anna is also supporting Barack because she believes that he is a voice of change
and reform that is so badly needed. As well, she considers him to be a "unifying" candidate
who will bring together Democrats, Independants, and Republicans. This is really
what America needs, a chance to stand together and repair ourselves.
If you have time, money, or ideas to offer to the Obama campaign, please contact
Anna or go directly to his website, www.barackobama.com.
Obama has changed the rules of fundraising for himself and the Democratic National Party.
They are not accepting money for PACs and other special interest groups. This
strategy to rule by the people and for the people is wonderful, but it means we must
support him with our pocketbooks. Please consider giving - even a $25 contribution can help
him increase his numbers and catch up to the Republican fundraising machine.
If you want a little something back for your donation, check out these cute Obama action figures. A great way to give and get back.
Even though we are thankfully going to have a new President soon, do not take your eyes off of Mr. George W. If you have not already noticed, he is trying to incite war with Iran. As well, he is trying to force the infant Iraqi government to sign papers saying that America can continue to occupy their country for as long as we like. We are already embroiled in two bloody and useless wars. Please do what you can to raise awareness of what W and his war machine are doing while we are not paying attention. Call or write to your representatives and senators to let them know you do not support yet another war. Contact Information for your Congresspeople.
